We since then sold the plane n244sa. We were operating an early Merlin 3 with electric steering, when the steering failed do to this clutch failed.

There are two available. I checked all over the place and happened to find old used ones. As the system requires 2 of them.

I understand these parts are used in early Lear's, Bendix autopilots, lots of early Merlin's with electric steering. I bought all they had to keep for spare parts to keep the SA226 operational. I was quoted the mechanic removed the failed one and there was a phone number on it. They are mounted in a housing on the nose gear.

They would be a must have if you don't ever want to change your whole steering system.
